SUCCESS STORIES

Distribution of food and tents in areas affected by flooding

In March 2020 the province of Nimroz was affected by severe flooding, the Department of Refugees and the Department of Women of Nimroz informed AAWRO of the situations of families in extreme precariousness. Representatives of the village councils and the health department as well as the social and labor departments have warned the central government that if it does not take emergency measures to help these vulnerable people in a disaster situation, we will would face a huge increase in mortality. They therefore asked AWRA to help them by granting them humanitarian aid.

Distribution of warm clothes

In winter, the vulnerability of families living in precarious conditions becomes alarming - Afghan families driven back from neighboring countries, families fleeing internal armed conflicts, widowed women and their children - because the climatic conditions are harsh.

Distribution of basic food to deported families

In October 2016, many families were displaced in Nimroz province due to armed conflicts in Farah and Helmand provinces. They found refuge in abandoned accommodation and lived up to 39 people in a room, mostly women and children. Given the precariousness and urgency of the situation, AWRA provided a large quantity of basic food in record time, allowing around a hundred families to cover their needs for part of the winter.
